As a property owner, Australian laws dictate that meth contamination above 0.5 micrograms in a 100cm² space is not acceptable for habitation; landlords are at risk of facing lawsuits from tenants moving into a contaminated property and adjoining neighbours may also seek legal advice.
Contamination levels 0.5μg/100cm² require a property to be remediated – this is a costly endeavour and can require treating or removing carpet, curtains, wall linings, ceilings, electrical wiring, air conditioners, heating and insulation. Of course, the earlier contamination is discovered, the less expensive it will be to remediate.

What does our Home Meth-Testing Service involve?
South Building Inspections offers field sample testing on a property for methamphetamine contamination. Typically over the course of 2 hours, we will take a number of samples throughout the property which will then be sent to a laboratory for testing. Our Home Meth-Testing Service is conducted using the NIOSH Method 9111 (meth on wipes by liquid chromatography – mass spectrometry) and tested in an Australian based laboratory.
Results are generally returned with 3-5 days, in which we provide a detailed analysis and advice if contamination is detected.

How do I know if my property is contaminated?

- Burns, unusual stains, yellowed walls and rust in strange places such as on window fittings or door handles
